It started on Thursday August 9, 2001 and ended on Sunday.

It's been five years since Denni completed her chemotherapy and it was important to recognize this special milestone in Denni's life.  We're thrilled we could celebrate this achievement with her.

Denni's plan was to host a BBQ for her Cisco team, so she was stunned when her sister Karen came out of the house to help her bring in the groceries.

We turned the party into the beginning of a surprise weekend.

On Saturday, Michael and Tim came down from Roseville to join us for the Oakland A's game against the Yankees.  Several of our best friends surprised Denni at the Cisco Singers' pot-luck tailgate party in the parking lot.  Denni and the Cisco Singers sang the National Anthem before the game.

And we surprised her again on Sunday morning after church when Denni's music group showed up for brunch.

We are constantly aware that the fight against breast cancer isn't over...for Denni or any of the women who are or might be affected by this hideous disease.  Now we have to fight for all of our daughters.  Our family is committed to the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure each year in San Francisco and we encourage all of you to get involved and/or contribute to any of the breast cancer organizations.  An even simpler way to participate is to buy the Breast Cancer postage stamps from the post office.

In Denni's own words, "It was all the love and support that I received during the time I was sick and the last five years that has allowed me to recover so well and continue on with my life.  I feel very blessed to have the kind of family and friends as I do".

She fought for her life...and so far she's winning!
