Family Picnics

My grandparents instilled in their children the strong family bonds that tie us together today. The family always did things together, such as this trip to Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh in 1928.

In the back row are Irene, Margaret, Clem, Grandma and Grandpa. John is in front of Grandpa and Emma is in front of Irene. Now you know where Pam learned to "pose". Susan and Julia weren't along on this excursion.

Grandma passed away in 1928, so this 1929 photo shows Grandpa, his five daughters and two sons.

By July 4, 1931, Julia had married Mike Oravec and Susan had married John Gonda. The first of the next generation made the scene when Ed Oravec was born in 1930. The larger family group gathered again in 1932 in New Kensington.

In 1958, the family was growing rapidly. We gathered family and friends to celebrate Grandpa's 80th birthday and the family was considerable bigger, now with 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
